Remarriage You 442

Chapter 442 The Father Of Her Child

Halfway through, Lenora had taken a trip to the restroom. Upon her return, she heard an argument taking place in the main hall. Not wanting to return to the private room, she decided to linger by the stairway entrance and watch the scene unfold. She quickly understood the situation.

It was a tale of two women vying for the attention of one man.

The man was originally in a relationship with one of the women, but he cheated with another woman and wanted to break up with his girlfriend.

Surprisingly, his girlfriend didn't agree. She professed her deep love for her boyfriend, stating that she didn't mind his infidelity. Even if he were to maintain contact with the other woman in the future, she claimed that it wouldn't bother her. Lenora couldn't believe her ears. Such people actually exist?

Having had her fill of the drama, Lenora slowly started to walk back, a sudden realization dawning upon her.

It seems as though I have overlooked something.

Be it Connor or Richard, when Lenora saw their intimate photos with other women, and was forced by Zachary to break up, she felt no sadness. It was as if it had nothing to do with her.

The truth is, I have never really liked them in the first place. Perhaps, Zachary had also noticed this, which is why he is fearless and confident enough to scheme against those two men.

It was then that Lenora understood, what truly upset Zachary was not that she had found a boyfriend, but that she had fallen in love with someone else.

Her boyfriends might have easily fallen for Zachary's schemes, but her heart wouldn't be that easy to win back.noveldrama

How would Zachary react if I were to be heartbroken over Richard, to the point of despair?

Suddenly, someone tapped her on the shoulder.

""Nor..."

Lost in her thoughts, Lenora was startled by the interruption.

She turned around and saw Zachary. She let out a sigh of relief, patting her chest. "What's wrong with you? You scared me to death."

"I've been meaning to ask, what have you been up to? You've been gone for so long and was mumbling to yourself over there, seemingly lost in thought."

Lenora lowered her head, feeling a little guilty. "I wasn't thinking about anything," she said. "There was just a quarrel downstairs earlier, and I went to check it out." "They've already left. We should go too. I'll take you home."

"Mm-hmm."

In the backseat of the car, Lenora stole a glance at Zachary. Pretending to be engrossed in her phone, she let out a dejected sigh. Concerned, Zachary asked, "What's wrong?"

"Richard didn't respond to my message."

Zachary froze momentarily, looking at Lenora as if she were an idiot. "He's already cheated. Why are you still sending him messages?"

"I just can't help myself," Lenora confessed in a low voice. "I wanted to ask him why. How was I inferior to that woman?"

Zachary was in disbelief, feeling as if something was stuck in his chest. Gritting his teeth, he said, "Lenora, don't tell me you're in love with him?"

"What's wrong with that?" Lenora sighed. "It's not like I want to, but I just can't help myself."

Zachary fell silent for a couple of seconds, then said in a deep voice. "Nora, you're lying to me, aren't you?"

A sudden unease gripped Lenora as she retorted innocently, "Why would I deceive you?"

Zachary sneered,, "You once told me that you were fond of Connor, and you claimed you weren't lying to me."

He still remembered how the two of them had infuriated him to no end. But in the end, it turned out that she didn't have feelings for Connor. Her closeness to the latter was only because she wanted to investigate her father's death. A twitch played at the corner of Lenora's lips. She lowered her gaze in thought, then picked up her phone to type, seemingly sending a message to someone once again.

After waiting for a few minutes and not receiving a response, Zachary glanced at her. "Why aren't you speaking?"

With a long sigh, Lenora leaned her head against the car window, her face etched with melancholy. "I don't feel like talking," she said.

After she finished speaking, she glanced at her phone again.

Zachary pursed his lips, then suddenly snatched her phone away. "Stop looking at it!"

The assistant driving up front was utterly confused.

He was an assistant and driver assigned to Zachary by the branch office. Not understanding Clusian, he had no clue what had transpired. "What are you doing?"

Lenora immediately snatched it back, cradling it like a precious treasure against his chest as she warily eyed Zachary.

She didn't send any messages to Richard at all, fearing that Zachary might discover it.

Seeing this, Zachary was seething with anger. "Lenora, have you lost your mind? He's a jerk, and you're still hung up on him?"

Lenora lowered her gaze, repeating, "It's not like I want to, but I just can't help myself..."

"You..."

Zachary almost passed out.

He closed his eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath. "Nora, are you really not lying to me? What does he have that makes him worthy of your affection?" Lenora confessed, "I can't really explain why, but I'm just really drawn to him. There's this inexplicable feeling, as if we've known each other in a past life."

A pang of unease struck Zachary's heart.

Could it be that Lenora had known Richard when she was a third year exchange student here? Could Richard possibly be the father of her child?

He lowered his gaze, the depths of his eyes gradually darkening. His palm that was resting on his knee slowly clenched into a fist, gripping so hard that his knuckles turned white.

Lenora stole a glance at Zachary,

noticing his slightly pale complexion. He was sitting in silence, his fists tightly clenched. She thought she had genuinely upset him, and a pang of guilt tugged at her heart

Should I tell him the truth? No, that would be letting him off too easily. I'll wait until tomorrow to tell him.

The car fell silent in an instant, with only the sound of breathing remaining.

It continued until the car came to a halt beneath the condominium building.

Lenora stepped out and shut the car door behind her. She turned around, only to see Zachary still sitting in his spot. She called out to him, "Zachary, aren't you getting out?" Zachary lowered his gaze, not even sparing a glance at Lenora. "You should head back first," he said.

Lenora didn't know what to say.

It seems like he's quite upset.

After hesitating for a couple of seconds, Lenora gave a slight nod. "In that case, I'll leave you here."

She casually closed the car door for Zachary before entering the condominium building.

Lenora planned to reveal the truth to him the next day, intending to have a serious discussion with him.

Zachary sat in the car for a while before pulling out his phone to make a call. Then, he switched to the driver's seat and drove off toward the club.

Upon reaching the agreed-upon room, Zachary went straight in without hesitation.

Upon seeing him, Olivia gestured toward Richard, who was beside her. "You're here. I've brought him in for you."

"Thanks." Zachary casually closed

the door behind him, settling down on the single-seater couch nearby His gaze was intense, fixed on

Richard. His eyes were deep and

inscrutable, and he remained silent.

Richard stared at Zachary in shock, then turned his gaze to Olivia. Recalling her familiar tone when speaking, he finally understood something. "Madam, you two..." "Hush..." Mrs. George raised her index finger to her lips, signaling Richard to keep quiet.

Richard's face turned pale.

Olivia turned to Zachary and asked, "What did you need him for?"

Zachary's gaze fell on Richard, his eyes nothing but a black abyss, making it impossible for anyone to discern his thoughts.

Upon seeing this, Richard felt a chill down his spine.

After a brief pause, Zachary finally broke his silence. "How did you come to know Fay? When and where did it happen?"

Richard glanced at Olivia, his face showing a hint of hesitation.

"Look at me!" Zachary thundered suddenly, a vicious glint flashing in his eyes. "Answer my question!"

The mere thought of Richard

potentially meeting Lenora in her third year in university and even possibly having a child together

filled Zachary with such rage the

he

wished he could strangle Richard on the spot.

Richard turned pale with fright. Noticing that Olivia had no intention of coming to his defense, he had no choice but to answer truthfully, "I... I met her at a bar. I'm actually a bartender there."
