Remarriage You 443

Chapter 443 The Hired Boyfriend

A bartender? Lenora actually fell for someone like this? And even lied about him being a mural artist at a bar? She should have her eyes checked!

"When?" The vein on Zachary's forehead twitched slightly.

"About a week ago, she and her friend found me at a bar." Richard observed Zachary's increasingly darkening expression as he continued, "She said her ex-husband might come around to bother her soon. She wanted to hire someone to pretend to be her boyfriend, and she chose me."

Zachary fell silent for a few seconds, his gaze chilling as he stared at Richard, as if the latter was going to be a dead man. "Liar! How could she possibly fall for you if you've only known each other for a week? Tell me, did you two meet several years ago?" Richard explained incoherently, "I'm telling the truth. I'm not lying. My colleagues can vouch for me, and there's a contract. I can show you the contract!" "Contract?"

"Right, we signed a contract back then. Once I've done my job, she's supposed to pay me ten thousand."

Zachary narrowed his eyes, carefully studying Richard's expression. He didn't miss the slightest detail, yet he found nothing to indicate the latter was lying.

Could it be that Richard is really telling the truth?

Richard felt a chill run down his spine under the intense gaze. Faced with the silence, he hurriedly explained, "As for your claim that she likes me? How could that possibly be?"

Could it be...

Zachary's eyes dimmed as he stood up. "I'm going to make a call," he said.

Upon leaving the private room, Zachary immediately dialed Elijah's number.

From the other end of the phone, Elijah's nonchalant voice came through. "Hello? What's up, Mr. Fuller?"

"I've a question for you. When and where did Lenora meet Richard?"

Upon hearing this, Elijah burst into hearty laughter. "Hahahahaha..."

"Why are you laughing?" Zachary's face darkened.

Elijah laughed for quite some time before he finally stopped, still unable to contain his amusement. "I'm laughing at how slow you are. You still haven't figured out what's going on, have you?" "Explain it to me clearly!"

"Lenora doesn't even have a boyfriend! She just made up a fake one to fool you!" Elijah said with a chuckle.

Zachary's eyes gradually darkened, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips as he gritted his teeth. "Go on."

"Not long ago, she ran into Charles and also discovered that I was following her. She had already figured out the truth. She was upset that you made decisions without consulting her, that's why she claimed to have a boyfriend." Zachary licked the back of his teeth, his fist tightening before relaxing. "Are you certain that this Richard has no connection with Lenora?"

"Right. Throughout the time I was with her, I never once saw her interact with Richard."

"I understand now." Zachary did not forget that Elijah and Lenora had deceived him together. "Just you wait. I'll deal with you later!"

""Ha ha ha ha...."

After Zachary ended the call, he turned around and returned to the private room.

Olivia had also figured out the truth of the matter, her face adorned with a playful smile. "Charlton," she said, "you've been led in circles by your wife."

I wonder what kind of woman Charles' wife is, to have captivated him so intensely that she has him wrapped around her finger.

Olivia had become somewhat curious.noveldrama

Zachary didn't respond and simply ordered Richard, "Bring me the contract."

"Alright, I'll do it right away."

As Richard stepped out of the private room, he couldn't help but wonder what on earth was going on.

Before long, Richard had handed the contract over to Zachary.

The contract was just a page long. Zachary read through it quickly, his eyes darting swiftly across the lines. His fingers, gripping the corner of the paper, tightened. He couldn't help but laugh, one that was filled with exasperation.

Not only did Lenora hire someone to play her boyfriend, but she also put on a show for me in the car earlier. What a character she is! That being said, the fact that she is willing to get back at me like this indicates some level of care on her part. Otherwise, she wouldn't have bothered with me at all.

Zachary realized that he wasn't thinking straight.

When Lenora was photographing him, she was so focused that it was clear she was pouring her heart and soul into the task. There was just no way she could have suddenly fall for someone else.

After bidding farewell to Olivia, Zachary immediately returned to the condominium.

Lenora was busy editing photos, specifically those of Zachary.

She was extremely pleased with the four meticulously captured photos. They didn't need much embellishment-a simple edit had sufficed.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.

Lenora glanced toward the door, rising from her seat to get it. She called out, "Who's there?"

"It's me."

Zachary?

Lenora took a peek through the peephole, and sure enough, it was none other than Zachary.

Isn't he supposed to be angry? What is he doing here?

Lenora opened the door, looking at him quizzically. "What brings you here? Don't tell me you've been sitting in the car this whole time." "I wasn't."

Zachary's expression was calm, a subtle smile playing on his lips. "Grandma just called. Let's talk inside."

Suspecting nothing, Lenora stepped aside to let Zachary in, casually closing the door behind him. "What did Grandma say?" she asked.

"Grandma didn't say anything."

Huh? Then why did he come?

Perplexed, Lenora turned to look at Zachary. In an instant, she peered into the depths of his eyes. They were as still and quiet like the water in a well, giving no hint of his thoughts.

Lenora felt unnerved under the intense gaze, rubbing her arms nervously. "Why... Why are you staring at me like that?"

Zachary's lips curled into a smirk as he slowly approached Lenora, his gaze intense. "Nora," he said, "I've just realized that you're quite daring."

"Is... is that so? Why would you say that all of a sudden?" Lenora tugged at the corner of her mouth, taking a step back.

She had a feeling that Zachary must have found out about her charade.

Zachary calmly pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket and spread it out in front of Lenora. "Recognize your own signature?"

It's over. He knows.

Lenora's pupils abruptly contracted, a glint flashing in her eyes as she began to rack her brains.

She hadn't forgotten the original intention behind her actions.

It was Zachary who had deceived her first. Therefore, she saw no reason to feel guilty.

With a deep breath, Lenora puffed out her chest and walked over to take the contract. After glancing at it for a moment, she asked, "I recognize this, so what?"

When Zachary saw the look of righteous indignation on her face, he couldn't help but laugh. "So what? You hired a fake boyfriend to trick me and you're asking me so what?"

"I was simply giving you a taste of your own medicine."

"I did it for the sake of your safety..."

"So, you think it's okay to put on an act with other women and hurt me, is that it?"

Lenora stared straight into Zachary's eyes, her expression serious. She questioned him emphatically, "Zachary, you act under the guise of my best interest, but do you truly know what I want? Have you ever respected my choices?"

Zachary replied, "Nora, even if you blame me or disparage me for it, I had no other choice at the time. If I had to do it all over again, I would still make the same decision." Upon hearing this, Lenora became increasingly frustrated.

Even now, he still refuses to admit his mistakes.

"In that case, you should leave," Lenora said in an icy voice, turning her back. "You've deceived me once, and I've deceived you in return. We're even now, so don't bother me again." "Nora! Are you sure you want to do this?"

"Absolutely," Lenora asserted with unwavering conviction.

Faced with her defiant attitude,

Zachary had no choice but to give in.

His large hand rested on her

shoulder, turning her back toward him. "Alright, alright, it's my fault. I shouldn't have done that. Nora, can you forgive me?"

He had originally come to demand answers.

Little did he expect to end up being the one to be questioned.

Lenora let out a snigger. This time, he is forced to admit his mistake, but who knows if he'll do the same thing again if given the chance.

"Didn't you just say that given

another chance, you would still

make the same decision? How could

you possibly be wrong? Whatever

you do is right. How am I even

I

qualified to forgive you?” Lengra said, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
