Remarriage You 440
Chapter 440 My Good For Nothing Ex
Zachary found himself having to explain, "I had someone tail him, originally intending to find some leverage against him. However, I never expected to end up with photos like these. Nora, believe me, these pictures are absolutely real. I only sent them from an unfamiliar account because I was afraid you wouldn't believe me."
Arms crossed over her chest, Lenora watched Zachary with a playful gaze, her eyes alight with intensity. She said nothing, but it was clear from the moment he spoke that he was lying.
If he had indeed sent someone to tail Richard, he would have undoubtedly discovered that Richard was a bartender. However, it was clear that he was unaware of this fact.
Zachary gave an awkward smile, pleading earnestly, "Nora, trust me."
Lenora gave a small laugh, pointing at the woman in the photograph. "Do you know this person?"
"I don't know... I do..."
Catching Lenora's gaze, Zachary's eyes flickered, he quickly changed his tune, feigning innocence as he said, "All I did was let her flirt a little with Richard, I didn't expect him to fall for it so easily. Let me tell you, even without my interference, a man like Richard would have strayed sooner or later."
"So, I should be thanking you?"
"Yes."
"Right, you big goof, out you go."
She shouldn't have let her guard down around Zachary.
She should have known earlier that Zachary was bound to stir things up, he wasn't one to give up easily.
"Nora, I truly..."
Lenora didn't give him a chance to speak, pushing him toward the door. "Get out."
"Nora, Richard isn't a trustworthy man, give me another chance..." Zachary pleaded, stepping back as he spoke.
With a loud bang, the door was slammed shut.
Zachary gazed at the door, lightly touching his nose.
Lenora returned to the edge of the sofa and ate her lunch.
Let's not even get started-Zachary's cooking was nothing short of amazing.
In the afternoon, Lenora carried on with her work when she unexpectedly received a message from the chief editor.
The editor-in-chief: Fay, we need a photographer for an internal page of the company's upcoming financial magazine issue. None of our other photographers are available, could you possibly fill in?
Lenora replied: When is the shoot? And the deadline for submission?
Editor-in-chief: We're shooting tomorrow, and there's still almost a month left before the deadline. There's no need to rush.
Lenora: All right then.
Lenora agreed, then asked: Who is being interviewed this time? Do you have a photo?
Editor-in-Chief: The interviewee is the head of Brownen Technologies in Navarre. There are no photographs of him, so see if you can get hold of a candid shot. His secretary mentions he prefers a straightforward and efficient style, so keep that in mind. Lenora: All right, I understand.
However, she couldn't help but feel curious. Isn't it typical for features like this to include direct interviews and photographs taken in the office?
Why was the company's Navarre office located in Fairlake?
After a moment of thought, she asked again, "Where is the shooting location? Their office or the photo studio?"
"Studio," the editor-in-chief replied, "Their secretary responded, they will be here on time."
"All right." Lenora suppressed the doubts in her heart.
Despite waiting until the shoot began, the editor-in-chief still hadn't managed to get a picture of the person in charge.
However, the focus of such a financial mogul would likely be on the content of the interview.
After all, these high-ranking individuals were generally of older age. Regardless of how they were portrayed, their appearance was what it was, and was unlikely that fans would scrutinize every detail.
The initial draft for the commercial of the new couple rings was submitted by Lenora, but there was yet to be a response from the person in charge.
The following day, Lenora made her way to the studio at the magazine company, where the staff had already begun setting up the scene.
At half past eight, the chief editor sent a message, informing that the person in charge had already arrived at the makeup room and was getting ready.
Around nine o'clock, Lenora heard a commotion outside and instinctively turned to look.
Leading the group was a young man of striking features and tall stature. He was dressed in a crisp, navy blue suit, his gaze fixed ahead as he moved with a casual elegance. He would occasionally nod, engaging in a conversation with someone next to him. Every gesture he made exuded a sense of refinement and luxury.
To his left was a stranger, a man she didn't recognize, while to his right was the chief editor whom Lenora was acquainted with.
Behind him trailed a makeup artist and several assistants.
A twitch tugged at the corner of Lenora's mouth as she looked at Zachary. Almost instinctively, she asked, "How come you're here?"
The editor and the others stopped in front of Lenora. Just as they were about to ask if she knew Charlton-after all, they were both of Clusian descent and living in Fairlake, so it wouldn't be surprising if they were acquainted the man on the left cut in. Shooting her an annoyed glance, he said curtly, "You're the photographer in charge today, aren't you? What's with that attitude?"
Zachary gave a slight smile, winked at Lenora and said, "Don't worry about it."
The editor-in-chief stepped in to mediate, "Fay surely didn't do it on purpose. Come, let me introduce you. This is Mr. Carston, head of Brownen Technologies, and this is the editor-in-chief of the business magazine, Wyatt. Mr. Charlton, this is Fay, the photographer assigned to shoot for you today."
Lenora realized something, gazing at Zachary with a somber expression. "Mr. Charlton, hello!"
Zachary was the subject of her photoshoot today?
No wonder there was no name, and no photo!
"Nice to meet you, it's a pleasure working together," Zachary said, his expression remained stout.
"Mr. Charlton is a forgiving man, he won't hold a grudge against you. Just be careful with your words next time." Wyatt glared at Lenora.
A wry smile tugged at Lenora's lips as she responded, "Of course, Mr. Charlton. My apologies, I mistook you for someone else earlier."
"Oh? Who did you mistake me for?"
"My good-for-nothing ex-husband."
Zachary was rendered speechless.
Seeing the man on his left about to lose his temper, Lenora hurriedly clarified, "Oh, what a slip of the tongue! Mr. Charlton, you're certainly more handsome. How could he possibly compare to you in terms of virtue and ability? He's not even worthy of being your shoe shiner!" Zachary responded, "Well, you don't have to put it that way."
Lenora gave Zachary a look, her face a mask of politeness but her eyes lacking in warmth. Gritting her teeth, she said, "Let's not talk about him anymore, it's bad luck. It's truly my honor to be able to shoot for you."
They were already at the foot of the mountain, leaving Lenora with no way to back out. All she could do was grit her teeth and press on.
"Really, I heard that you're also of Clusian descent? Communication would be easier then. How about you handle all my future photo shoots?"
Lenora smiled, saying nothing.
Zachary chuckled, blinking his eyes as he watched Lenora's puffed-up yet helpless expression, his heart softening at the sight.
He really wanted to pinch her face, just to see if Lenora would explode in reaction.
Wyatt said, "Aren't you going to thank Mr. Charlton?"
"Thank you, thank you, Mr. Charlton!"
"It's getting late, let's start filming right away," the editor-in-chief said.
"All right."
Lenora glanced at Zachary, nodding toward the backdrop with a hint of irritation in her voice. "Go sit over there."
Upon hearing this, Wyatt furrowed his brow. "H-How dare you speak to him..."
Before he could finish, the editor-in-chief tugged at him, nodding in Zachary's direction. "Mr. Charlton isn't even upset, why are you? When you run into a fellow countryman in a foreign land, you certainly wouldn't sweat the small stuff." When Wyatt looked over, he saw Zachary obediently sitting on the chair. There was no hint of anger in his demeanor, instead, he was smiling, his expression gentle.
Wyatt was rendered speechless at that.
Fine, he was being a busybody.
In order to ensure Lenora's work went smoothly, Zachary was very cooperative.
Lenora snapped a few pictures before stopping. She zoomed in to take a closer look, then gently shook her head.
She wasn't too pleased with these few photos, and hence, took a few more.
Lenora magnified and flipped through it, but she was still somewhat dissatisfied.
Wyatt and the editor-in-chief had been observing from the sidelines in the rest area.noveldrama
Seeing Lenora's furrowed brows, as if she was facing some difficulties, Wyatt frowned again. "Is the photographer you recommended reliable?"
What do you think?
