The Divorced Heiress’s Revenge

Chapter 2440

Chapter 2440

"Brother...?" Asher recalled Hugh, who had perished in a plane crash. A sharp, excruciating ache surged through his heart.

"Even if he truly is my brother, he has allied himself with the devil and willingly committed evil deeds. Between him and me, there is nothing left to salvage!"

As his words fell, so did his hand, bringing the blade down with it.

"Ash! Don't!" Justin cried out.

In the next instant, Jace caught the blade with his bare hand, gripping it tightly as blood dripped to the ground.

Asher felt his heart twist in agony. He cherished his family above all else, and now, he found himself committing an unspeakable sin, having to raise his blade against his own kin.

"I'm not here to stop you," Jace said, his breathing labored. His piercing gaze locked onto Asher's reddened eyes. In a voice only the two of them could hear, he whispered, "But I must stop you. It's my mission."

Asher stared at him, disbelief etched on his face. "Why..."

"Because I belong to the Boss. I have no choice but to fulfill my orders in this way."

Jace slowly turned his gaze toward Justin. "Go. Now."

After watching them leave, Jace walked alone through the warehouse with heavy steps and a somber expression.

He kept asking himself. 'Was this the right choice?'

Perhaps failing this mission would mean Grant would send him to the hospital as a test subject for experimental drugs, or worse, kill him outright.

Still, he felt no regret.

He just did not know if he truly was Hugh Thompson whom everyone had been searching for. Maybe he was merely someone who resembled him. He might have helped the Thompson family by coincidence, and it was all wishful thinking.

Suddenly, Jace froze. A group of men dressed in black with their faces concealed stood not far ahead.

Jace's eyes narrowed. He instantly realized these men were not sent by Grant, nor were they from the Thompson family. Rather, they were a third-party faction.

"Take him down!" one of them barked. At the command, the group surged toward him.

In a desperate fight, Jace managed to take down several of them but sustained severe injuries in the process.

These men were well-prepared and highly trained, intent on taking his life.

He could not afford to linger any longer. Breaking into a run, Jace fled through the warehouse with his assassins on his heel.

The chase spilled from the narrow alley onto a busy street, where pedestrians stared in

horror at the bloodied man sprinting past.

Suddenly, Jace spotted a luxury car parked in front of a store. A woman seemed to be sitting inside.

Clenching his teeth, he rushed over, yanked open the door, and threw himself into the car. He slammed the door shut and locked it with a loud click.

"You-"noveldrama

"Don't move or speak!"

Jace did not even glance at the woman. He quickly covered her mouth and pressed her firmly into the seat.

Outside, several assassins ran past the car.

"He's gone!"

"Check over there! Split up and keep looking! The boss's orders were clear-he must die!" The voices and footsteps outside faded.

Jace finally exhaled a sigh of relief. Only then did he turn to look at the woman.

She was a middle-aged woman with an elegant and beautiful face. Her damp eyes stared directly at him, growing redder by the second.

There was no fear or panic in her gaze, only deep sorrow and heartache.
