Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 598

Yasmine tried to prop herself up with a burst of excitement, but the movement tugged at her wound, making her already pale face go even whiter.noveldrama

Everett walked in, his dark eyes giving her a quick once-over. Instead of helping, he nodded towards Alex.

Catching on, Alex stepped up and gently offered a hand. "Ms. Yasmine, you're really banged up. Moving around isn't the best idea-you'll only end up hurting yourself more. It's just not worth it." Yasmine's face stiffened. She couldn't ignore the sarcasm in Alex's tone, implying she was on her own.

But what did Alex know?

She was Everett's long-lost "moonlight," the one he'd been searching for. She mattered to him now.

Everett settled into the sofa, his long legs crossed gracefully, his white shirt crisp, and his features striking. Just sitting there, he was like a piece of art.

Yasmine was captivated, the pain from her wound fading into the background.

"You wanted to see me, and here I am. Go on," he said, his voice cool, cutting through her daydreams.

Yasmine gently bit her lower lip, searching for any sign of emotion on Everett's face, but found none. But then again, this was Everett.

You couldn't easily peek into his heart. He was always so reserved and mysterious.

"Mr. Everett, how's little Mateo doing?" she asked, her voice raspy from the damage to her throat.

The mention of his son seemed to soften Everett's icy demeanor just a bit. "He's fine. Thank you for that."

No matter what, she had shielded little Mateo with her body during the fire.

Without her, such a small child could've been swallowed by the flames in an instant.

Little Mateo wasn't just Selena's precious child but also Everett's.

Yasmine shook her head softly. "Mr. Everett, there's no need to thank me. Saving little-Mateo was something did willingly. He's your son, after all. I couldn't just stand by and watch him get hurt. I'd protect him, even if it cost me my life..."

As she spoke, she gazed at him with deep affection.

Before, she'd kept her feelings for him under wraps. But after coming so close to death, she didn't want to hide them anymore. She liked him, and she wanted him to know.

Her look was so obvious, even Alex noticed and showed his disapproval, yet Everett seemed unfazed.

His voice stayed indifferent as he said, "Saving someone's life is not a trivial matter, and the Bennett family doesn't ignore such debts. I'll make sure you're taken care of. Once

"Plus, I'll gift you a property and some compensation. If there's a particular place you've got your eye on, just let Alex know."

"Rest up and get well soon."

After finishing his business-like speech, Everett stood and headed for the door.

Yasmine hadn't even had a chance to fully register his exit...

She never expected that after he saw her jade pendant and after she saved his son, he'd still be so distant.

She hadn't sacrificed so much for just this!

"Mr. Everett..." Yasmine called out urgently, dropping all pretense, "The day I said goodbye in your office, I lost my jade pendant. Did you happen to see it?" Everett paused, but didn't turn around.

Tears welled up in Yasmine's eyes. "Mr. Everett, you once said you'd find me, and I've been waiting, but you never came. I thought maybe it was never meant to be."

"Three years ago, when I heard

"Luckily, I found you again."

"See, it's kind of funny-I saved you once, then a second time, and now I've saved your son. It seems like we're supposed to be connected."
