I couldn’t believe my ears even though I could see my mother lovingly cling to the most dangerous man in all kingdoms. The moment I spoke, her head swung towards me and in an instant, she rushed in, wrapping her arms around my body.

I stiffened immediately, barely reciprocating her affection as my gaze bore into Dominic’s.

“Thank you, Goddess!” My mother sighed, then pulled back and touched my face gently, blocking my line of sight. “I’m so glad you are okay!”

I blinked several times. I am a Tarrent?

My mother’s worried expression faltered.

“All soldiers out. Now!” Miro ordered, storming my way but before he could reach me, I held out a hand to stop him.

Miro froze, hurt flashing in his eyes. noveldrama

“Not now.” I said, and my gaze swept to Theon standing a few feet away behind him. I could already feel my wolf stirring, yearning and going into heat.

I can’t focus on that now. I’d get distracted and I need answers now.

Within a few minutes I was back in bed, exhausted and sitting half up while the room was filled with my mates, my and Dominic.

My mother took a seat beside me, while the men preferred to stand.

My wolf stirred, highly aware of the aura of power filling this room.

Every single person here had Alpha aura dripping from them in floods and it made me feel both safe and uneasy at the same time.

My mother looked at Dominic, before looking at me with a sigh. “So Kathy. Yes, you are a Tarrent, which means you’re from two royal families.”

I took a moment to digest that information. I was the niece of a terrorist. Kathryn Tarrent.

“Did Dad know?”

My mother nodded. “He knew who I was the moment we met. In fact, the day we met I was going to kill him.”

My eyes widened as my mother smiled. “Dom and I were trained as assassins right from childhood, and I was tasked with eliminating your father.”

“At the time, I didn’t know he was my mate. So to me, he was just this new scientist who might be successful at replicating our super soldier serum. As soon as I discovered he was my mate, things changed and I ended up fleeing from my father’s wrath to elope with Devon.”

I tried to imagine what that felt like and it wasn’t hard to do.

My mates had undergone oppression from their father because of me as well. I knew first hand what it felt like not to have the approval of a parent in the union of a couple.

My eyes crossed to Dominic standing with his hands behind him, watching

“I don’t know what to say to you.” I sighed. “As far as I know, you’re a terrorist.”

The corners of his lips tilted. “That’s okay. I do have a lot to say to you though.” He took three steps forward and paused robotically as if he reconsidered coming any closer. Then the blankness in his gaze dissipated only to be replaced by a strange softness that contrasted with his intimidating form.

“I am sorry I didn’t find you sooner. The moment I discovered my sister had a daughter, I had my men watch you but they couldn’t get close because you were with them.” He motioned to Theon and Miro,

I frowned in confusion. “I don’t understand. You were looking for me? You were watching me this whole time?”

“Yes.”

“Why didn’t you just…I don’t know…make a phone call or send an email or something.” I asked, starting to get miffed.

“I did call.” Dominic watched me in a way as if he were trying to gauge my reaction. I looked around at the people present.

“He’s the Watcher, Bunny.” Theon stated.

My jaw dropped but before I could say anything further, the door opened and in came El, who gave everyone a once–over look, before marching straight for Dominic.

They both stood in silence, communicating via mindlink, then something changed in my uncle’s demeanor. He turned to

  1. me.

“Get ready. You’re leaving.” He commanded and El proceeded to unhook my IV from the stand.

“Wait what?

“What happened?” Theon asked, stepping forward while my mother proceeded to help me sit up.

“Your father’s body was just taken from the mortuary by armed men.” Dominic stated. “We have reason to believe that Kathryn is also not safe here so she’s coming with me.”

“She’s not going anywhere.” Miro stepped forward, his forearms flexing from the way he fisted his hands.

El halted for a moment, looking between the two men.

“Ro.” Theon called but Miro held a hand up, turning to his twin.

“I have trusted you and kept mute when all I want to do is cross the room and slit his throat for killing my sister. I will never let him have her, T. I don’t care what sort of friendship you both have. I don’t care if he is her uncle. I will never let him have her.”

“Miro, it’s okay.‘ I chimed in.

“NO!” Miro yelled, his eyes flashing red. “You’re not leaving with my sister’s murderer.”

Dominic smiled. “I can take her if I want to and there will be absolutely nothing you can do about it.”

Miro took several steps forward, glaring up at Dominic who was still a foot taller. “I’d like to see you try.”

One minute, Dominic’s smirk was widening into a wolfish grin, the next, he had Miro’s cheek kissing the wall with one of his arms pinned above him and the other pinned in a painful manner behind his back.

“I see you put a lot of confidence in the fact that you’re enhanced.” Dominic leaned close to his ear as Miro struggled against his hold. “You forget I am the King of enhanced people. I created them with my blood. Whatever powers you have is all thanks to a blood wolf, otherwise, you’re nothing without…us.” His voice came out as a deadly growl that sent all the hairs on my body spiking.

Miro’s gaze lasered on Theon who stood watching. “So you’re just going to stand there?!”

Theon shoved his hands in his pockets. “I warned you.”

“Dom, that’s enough!” My mother inputted. “Let him go.”

My uncle hesitated for a moment before releasing Miro, but the moment he did that, Miro whipped around, aiming to strike again but Dominic caught him by the neck and slammed his back against the wall, hard.

“Don’t offend me, Miro Windermere!” Dominic growled while my mate glared daggers at him.

“And don’t offend me, Dominic Tarrent! You killed my innocent little sister and I will never forgive you for that!”

“I said enough! You both!” My mother yelled and Dominic released Miro yet again, taking several steps away from him. “I am disappointed in you, Dom.” My mother said to him, “Why would you kill an innocent child?”

Dominic moved his head in a robotic manner to his sister. “I wish you would not judge before knowing the whole story, Sis.”

“No story is worth the life of an innocent –”

“ENOUGH!” Dominic yelled, startling his sister. “Who says I killed her?!”

I blinked in shock just as all eyes focused on him.

“What do you mean?! My father told me you had her murdered and I witnessed the whole thing!” Miro yelled, taking a step forward.

Dominic heaved out a humorless laugh. “Your father? Of course! If you had your memories back, you’d remember I threw your sister into a room full of mutants. You didn’t actually see her die.”

Miro took a faltering step back while Theon took one forward.

“You mean she’s alive?” Theon asked and Dominic paused before reaching to the side and yanking El’s mask off.

“Yes, she’s alive!”
