Chapter 546
Zachary said without hesitation, "Of course! All the other kids in my class have their parents attending. I'm the only one who doesn't.
"But I think Harry and Hannah look about the same age as my parents. The other kids might think they're my parents.
"I might feel slightly relieved. If you're there too, Grandma, then it'll feel like I'm just like the other kids."
Portia's heart ached with sympathy. "Don't worry. I'll definitely be there."
Zachary's face lit up at her answer. He quickly jumped to his feet, grabbed his suit, and handed it to her.
"This is the outfit I picked out before. I have to wear it! I look really good. Make sure to bring it this afternoon."
Portia smiled warmly at him. "No problem."
Feeling reassured, Zachary grabbed his backpack and hurried out the door. Portia held the suit and followed behind him. "Why are you coming with me?" Zachary asked in surprise.
Portia gently ruffled his hair. "I'm just going to take you to school and maybe pick up a few things at the market afterward."
She knew Zachary didn't want her to go looking for Steven, so she decided to keep it a secret.
Zachary happily took her hand. "Okay!"
As they sat in the car, Zachary chatted excitedly, telling her all about the things that had happened at kindergarten. Portia listened patiently, smiling at his enthusiasm.
When they arrived at the kindergarten, Zachary got out of the car and waved at her. Once he was inside, Portia turned to Harry and said, "Take me to Steven's office." "Okay."
The car pulled up in front of Pelham Group.
Portia knew that barging in would only cause trouble for the
receptionist, so she smiled and said, "Please contact Mr. Pelham and let him know I'm here to see him about something." en noveldrama
The receptionist looked at her in confusion and asked, "Who are you?"
Portia answered confidently, "I'm his son's grandmother."
The receptionist hesitated for a moment before dialing on the phone. "Mr. Pelham, someone is looking for you."
Steven was busy. "I've told you many times-no appointments, no visitors. Why is this still an issue?"
The receptionist's face faltered slightly. "She says she's your mother-in-law."
Steven's tone changed instantly. "Let her up."
The receptionist forced a polite smile and told Portia, "You can go up now."
"Thank you." Portia apologized before heading to the elevator.
She had been monitoring the receptionist's expression. Whatever Steven said on the phone had upset her. It seemed like he had snapped at her.
Portia pursed her lips. Luckily, Annalise had divorced Steven; otherwise, who could possibly have put up with his bad temper? She reached the door and knocked lightly.
"Please enter."
Portia opened the door and entered, her frustration rising as she saw Steven seated at the desk.
"I was planning to come see you last night," she started, her voice filled with anger. "Why?"
"Why on earth did you hit Zachary?" Portia could barely stop herself from pointing an accusatory finger at him. "We agreed that you didn't have to raise him or provide a living
