The Day Our Promise Breaks

Chapter 176

Charles had seen right through her moves, and as he leaned in for the kiss, his grip on her was firm. Evelyn tried with all her might to break free but found herself stuck, reluctantly accepting his kiss. Every part of her was fighting back. She clamped her lips together, determined not to let Charles win. Her defiance only fueled Charles' anger. It was like he wanted to prove that Evelyn's resistance was just a cover-up, that she was actually jealous and upset because he mentioned marrying Dahlia. She didn't really regret their relationship or stop loving him. Ignoring Evelyn's struggle, Charles brazenly bit her lip. It was the first time he'd been so rough. He bit her lower lip hard enough to draw blood. The pain made Evelyn cry out. Her lips parted, and Charles took the chance to deepen the kiss.

"Ugh!" Evelyn glared at Charles, her eyes burning with hatred, resisting even more fiercely. She fought back against Charles' relentless kisses and probing tongue. Instead of the sounds of passion, her voice was filled with resistance. "Charles, get off me! Don't touch me. You make me sick!"

She was truly disgusted. The thought of him marrying Dahlia, the one responsible for Charlie's death, made her sick to her stomach.

"Disgusted? Ha!" Charles laughed bitterly, not buying her claim of disgust. Her words might have been harsh, but he always believed her body couldn't lie. Previously, she insisted on breaking up, but her body had seemed honest in its own way. This time, however, Charles felt it. Evelyn's entire being rejected him.

In the dim light, a flicker of panic

crossed Charles' eyes. It was almost invisible. He didn't even know what he was panicking about. As Charles emotions churned inside, he pressed closer to Evelyn. He prided himself on knowing Evelyn well, thinking he could easily draw her into his web, and she would be unable to pull away. She had to have some

reaction to him.

Evelyn's eyes flared red with anger. She couldn't shake free from Charles' hold. He was serious. Even in the absence of her response, he kept teasing her. He was planning to force her to have sex!

"Charles, I hate you!" Evelyn's eyes blazed with hatred as she bit down on Charles' shoulder, hard enough to wish she could tear his flesh away. Pain shot through his shoulder, but Charles didn't relent. "Stop!" Just as Charles was tearing at Evelyn's clothes, she let out a desperate scream. That was when there was a loud knock on the car window.noveldrama

“Charles, let go of Eve!" The car was soundproofed well, yet the voice from outside rang clear to them. A spark of hope lit up in Evelyn's eyes. It was Brooks. She didn't know why he showed up exactly when she needed him, but right then, Brooks seemed like a guardian angel to her.

Charles heard it, too, and saw the shift in Evelyn's eyes because of Brooks' arrival. That glimmer of hope stung Charles' eyes. Instead of letting go, he grew even more aggressive. Evelyn's resistance only intensified as she called out to Brooks for help, "Brooks, save me!” Even though she knew Brooks couldn't hear her through the soundproofed car, she instinctively saw him as her lifeline. This only made Charles even angrier. Brooks's presence didn't deter Charles; it

seemed to spur him on, making him

even more outrageous.
