She Accepted Divorce, He Panicked

251 Her Crash

Long after Scar stormed out of Sebastian's company, her hands are still shaking. It takes three of Authur for her to snap out of it to hear his question. "Where are we heading now, Miss?" Authur is patient just as the first time he asked her.

"Sorry!" Scar takes a deep breath, combing her hair with her fingers to calm herself, "Let me...give me a minute."

She's two hours early for her dinner plan with Damian. Either going back to Silco, or sitting by herself for another two hours. But Scar wants to do neither.

She can't help letting Sebastian's words get to her.

If it was before, she would never doubt his word even when he treated her as his enemy. That man doesn't lie. But now? She's not sure. He let Ava get to her not once, but twice. Honesty is not the only thing that matters in this game. She's not even sure if his feelings have changed about lying. After all, it was Ava. Scar won't be surprised no matter what that man does for her.

Could it be true though?

She didn't see that woman's face. She THOUGHT it was Ava because her figure looked like Ava and her voice shared Ava's. Not to mention Ava had the motive and means to enter the house. How could it be anyone but Ava?

But to think that Sebastian Knight, the man who spent his whole life protecting the wrong girl because he wanted to do the right thing, would make up such a horrifying lie for a murderer is just as unlikely.

His accusation does hurt though. An accusation that Scar thought she knew full well.

Silco is using her. She knew that. Why would she expect otherwise? She didn't even know him before all this happened. He offered money, power and means for her revenge just so she could be the face of his revenge. They are in this only because the Fullers are their common enemy.

So why does Sebastian's accusation hurt so much?

Since when did she expect more from Silco than just a revenge partner?

Because Silco rented her a big house? Because Silco has always been their breakfast and lunch and dinner with all her favorites? Because...he calls her princess? She's being stupid again.

Love hurts. She has sworn off it, and she is falling back into that sweet trap!

Unlocked her phone and pulled up a number, Scar closes her eyes as she hits the dialing button. Damian's voice comes through soon enough.noveldrama

"Damian? I—I'm finishing up early, and I thought I could spend some time at a café near dinner, so you don't have to go and pick me up."

"Huh, yeah, sure..." Damian sounds hesitating, "Actually I'm free, too. I can come right now--"

"No need to rush. I can use some alone time, too." Scar says, forcing her voice to be cold. The little fire that lit up earlier that day for having a brother distinguished. If her plan goes through, then any connection she makes with people would only hurt them.

If the law won't punish Ava, then she will.

Before Damian could even answer, Scar hangs up as she commands Authur: "Any café near the Crown Plaza would be fine, thanks."

"Yes, Miss."

Authur answers

with no hesitation or

emotion. Sometimes Scar finds that reasonable and convenient that Silco would have such a loyal right-hand man at his command." People like Silco need such a first mate, a capable hand who asks no questions. But sometimes...

It says something about what a dangerous man Scar got involved with, and that scares her. Silco...who are you?

The million questions around that man make Scar frown again. She leans her head on the window of the car, landing her eyes aimlessly outside. Does it matter who he is? If her goal is taking down the Fullers one by one before murdering Ava... If she is okay with paying for her revenge with her life...

Then what would it hurt if she enjoyed a few days of warmth from a fatherly figure that she has been dreaming of having her whole life?

Maybe

Scar pulls out her phone and calls Silco. To her surprise, the man who had always been picking up her calls immediately took his time to put her call through this time. Scar frowns.

"Hello?" Silco's voice finally comes through, a bit frustrated with a little panting hiding in there.

"Silcoll..." Scar opens her mouth, only to realize that she has little to say, "I--"

"Here it goes! They--"

Someone on Silco's side burst out a surprised shout. Scar couldn't hear anything after the "they" when the microphone was obviously covered. And before she could even think about it- Bang!

A car crashes into their rear, pushing

their car sideways on the road. Before Scar could snap out of it, two men with guns in their hands come out of the car that crashed thes, the black barrels pointed right at Scar.

"Get out of the car, now!"
