Rewriting My Heart's Fate

Chapter 490

Seriously? How'd Vivian end up here?

"It's great to see you, Ms. Albright," I said, keeping my tone steady as I approached her. "What brings you by?"

Vivian gave a small smile and gracefully took a seat. She looked around, nodded, and said, "Not bad, Ms. Wiley. You actually got your company back. I got to give you credit for that."

I felt a rush of concern, wondering what she was after.

"You're too kind, Ms. Albright. It wouldn't have been possible without the help of some great people," I said, keeping it humble. "Honestly, I should be thanking you. You're the one who made all this possible." "Me?" Vivian's eyes widened in surprise. "What exactly do you mean by that, Ms. Wiley?"

I met her gaze and stressed every word. "I know you had a hand in getting Mr. Albright to clear the way for me. Am I right? I really appreciate the help."

Vivian flushed, and she stumbled over her words. "Well... I just thought you were being treated unfairly and wanted to help you set things straight."

Wow, she actually looked flustered. Was this the same Vivian who was always so confident and untouchable?

Just then, a thought popped into my head, bold and uninvited. Could it be...

I took a deep breath and went straight for it. "Ms. Albright, are you helping me because of... Ethan?"noveldrama

"What? N-No, it's not like that." Vivian frantically waved her hand, and her face went redder.

I could tell right away that I was on the right track.

"I really appreciate everything you've done for me, Ms. Albright, but I can't accept what you and Mr. Grayson did," said before taking a deep breath.

Vivian stared at me. "I think you've got the wrong idea, Ms. Wiley. Ethan and I didn't—"

"Enough," I interrupted her. "Did you forget what I saw that night when you and Ethan were in Room 1008?"

I softened my tone a little and continued, "If... if he truly loves you, then I hope you two find happiness."

Vivian bit her lip, looking uncertain. After a long pause, she sighed and walked off without a word.

I watched her leave, and a whirlwind of emotions flooded me.

Vivian's confession left me feeling relieved but also bad about it. After all, my relationship with Ethan had been built on her pain.

Finally, it all made sense. Ethan had

always planned to sacrifice his feelings for me and be with Vivian. That explained why Murphy had spared me and gone out of his way to help me. en

"Are you alright, Evelyn?" Lianne asked, her voice full of concern. "She's something else going through all that for a guy."

Kevin had the same look of disdain. "Yeah, seriously. Ethan's a real piece of work. He dragged you and her into this mess."

I couldn't help but smile a little, realizing that I was never really on my own with these two around.

After seeing Vivian off, I grabbed my phone and called Ethan, but he didn't answer. I wondered if he was busy or was simply avoiding me.

I hesitated before deciding to text

him. "You were behind all of thi

weren't you, Ethan? Why? Did

get together with Vivian because of

me?"

I hit send and waited anxiously, but ten minutes ticked by with no reply. I felt like my heart had sank to the depth of the abyss.
