Remarriage You 448
Chapter 448 Already Taken
Yet, Isla found herself recalling the scene she had witnessed in the dining hall again.
He skillfully took the woman's hand, without any unnecessary movements, yet there was an innate affection radiating between them.
His relationship with Fay was quite apparent.
As the daughter of the Wilson family, Isla had everything she could ever ask for. Countless admirers sought her affection, yet none of them managed to catch her eye. Now, there finally was a man who caught her eye, but he was already taken and showed no romantic interest in her.
Isla let out a disheartened sigh, feeling as though a heavy stone was lodged in her heart, causing a painful, sour swelling.
She discovered online that Zachary was a Jacasterian, and the headquarters of Fuller Group was also located in Jacaster. Uncle Matthew is also a Jacasterian.
A tinge of regret filled Isla.
Why didn't I agree to accompany Mom on her previous brief stays in Jacaster? If I had gone along, would I perhaps have had the chance to meet Zachary earlier?
Isla, in a bad mood, invited Alice out for a drink.
When Alice arrived, Isla had already started drinking, with nearly half of the bottle on the table already empty.
She wore a slight frown, her face etched with an expression of distress.
Alice cautiously asked, "What's wrong? Who offended our dear Ms. Wilson?"
"No one offended me. I'm just not in a good mood."
As Isla spoke, her face was devoid of any emotion. She tipped her head back and drained the contents of her wine glass in one gulp.
Alice speculated, "Are you feeling down? Could it be because of the man we ran into at the dining hall today?"
Isla's eyebrows furrowed, and she silently poured herself a glass of wine.
Seeing that, Alice knew she had guessed right. With a thoughtful look in her eyes, she confessed, "Honestly, when I saw Fay walking with that man, my first reaction was relief. At least she couldn't be with your brother anymore. But then I started worrying that your brother wouldn't accept anyone but her. I really don't understand what's so exceptional about Fay and why everyone seems to like her. Personally, I think you're far superior to her, Isla."
Upon hearing this, Isla let out a scoff. "Who can blame her for being so good at insinuating herself into others' lives? Judging by her background, she doesn't seem to come from a particularly wealthy family. Yet, the friends she's made, like Bella and Axel, all have a more prestigious background than the other. Who wouldn't praise her for being impressive?"
"You're right," Alice agreed with a suggestive tone. "People like her are resourceful, shrewd, and worldly-wise. She only makes friends who'd benefit her. Don't be fooled by her holding hands with that guy. She might just be after his money."
It must've been like that.
While Isla thought that way in her heart, she voiced out something else. "But he didn't mind it either."
"What a shame. I actually thought you two were quite a good match."
A thought stirred in Isla's heart, but she quickly dismissed it, saying, "Don't say that. He doesn't like me anyway."
"How could that be? Isla, you're straightforward and genuinely sincere. Any man who spends some time with you would inevitably grow fond of you."
Isla pursed her lips, her cheeks flushing a soft pink. She looked up at Alice, asking, "Really?"
"Of course! Don't you realize how many guys have liked you since young?"
Isla felt a surge of joy in her heart, intertwined with a hint of shyness.noveldrama
"Isla, to be honest, a distant cousin of mine once fell prey to a gold-digger who deceived him for his wealth and affection. Fortunately, our family discovered her true nature in time, preventing her from achieving her goals," Alice solemnly said, her gaze fixed on Isla. "If you have feelings for someone, you must approach them boldly. Don't live your life with regrets."
Seeing Isla's face full of hesitation, Alice added, "Besides, you shouldn't have that much concern. Fay is only with him for his money. You're doing this to help him, so he'll surely appreciate it. Who knows, he might even fall for you!" "Really? He wouldn't dislike me, would he?"
"How could he dislike you when you let him see Fay's true colors? You need to believe in yourself. Don't belittle your worth. You're the daughter of the Wilson family!"
Isla's face flushed. She bit her lower
lip, saying, "Alice, I really can't thank you enough! If not for your console, might really just give up. You really are my good friend! Once I reveal Fay's true colors, I'll tell Zephyr
everything. He's bound to fall for you
then!"
I must snatch Zachary from Fay and flaunt my triumph in front of her to my heart's content! I must make Zachary fall hopelessly in love with me as a way to avenge how rude and disrespectful he has been toward me! "Don't say it like that. I don't want anything from you. You're my friend and all I wish is for you to get what you desire, a lifetime of happiness and peace." Alice chuckled.
She knew Isla all too well.
From a young age, Isla had always gotten whatever she wanted. She would always find a way to obtain it as long as it was something she desired.
All Alice did was point out Isla's intentions and showed her support.
Otherwise, there was no way Isla would have agreed so quickly.
What left Alice wondering was, what that man's identity was that he managed to capture the heart of the overly ambitious Isla.
At that moment, Alice caught sight of a familiar figure.
She gently patted Isla on the shoulder. "Isla, look. Is that him?"
Following Alice's gaze, Isla saw Zachary entering from outside. He looked around and chose an unoccupied booth to sit down.
Isla's eyes lit up, her expression significantly brighter. "It's him."
"You two really must be fated," Alice suggested. "Why don't you go over and say hello?"
Isla was about to stand up when she suddenly remembered the words Zachary had said to her at the dining hall that morning. That caused a slight change in her expression.
If I were to bother him again now, wouldn't it just annoy him even more?
"What's wrong?" Alice noticed something was off.
Isla bit her lip, shyly saying, "He doesn't have a great impression of me. Maybe it's better if I don't go."
Alice was about to say something when she noticed an Alice middle-aged woman taking a seat across from Zachary.
She said, "That woman might be an elder of his. If that's the case, it wouldn't hurt to make a good first impression with that elder. Who knows, she might even put in a good word for you." Isla nodded, occasionally stealing glances at Zachary.
Zachary looked at Tamara, who had just taken a seat across from him. "Aunt Tamara."
Having addressed Tamara that way for such a long time, Zachary had no intention of correcting himself.
Observing his attitude, Tamara
couldn't help but fly into a rage. "Why are you still calling me 'Aunt Tamara If I hadn't personally come to Fairtake to find you, you probably wouldn't even remember that exist, right?"
In the past, whenever Zachary had a business trip to Navarre, he would surely make a detour to Lofbury to visit Tamara.
This time, Tamara discovered Zachary's flight ticket for his return trip the next day. The journey was from Fairlake to Jacaster, with two layovers in between, but it did not include Lofbury.
He knew she was his mother. Yet, during his trip to the Muprary, he had no intention of visiting her.
"How would I dare?" Zachary gave a faint smile. "This trip is unexpected and I don't have much time. But rest assured, I'll definitely visit you when I'm here on a business trip next time." Suddenly, Zachary felt a gaze upon him. His sharp eyes met the source, and seeing it was Isla, he averted his gaze.
""He saw me."
When Isla locked eyes with Zachary, her heart pounded wildly, as if it had leaped into her throat. But at the same time, she felt a pang of worry, afraid that he might misunderstand and think she had been following him. "It's okay," Alice comforted.
Tamara crossed her arms, casting a
sidelong glance at Isla. Her
expression revealed an unwitting harshness, almost as if disappointed to the core. "Zachary, I know you. came here this time for Lenora. But while you were detained and investigated, she was here, living a carefree life. Haven't you seen her true colors yet? She's-"
