Remarriage You 435
Chapter 435 The Final Time
Lenora was furious.
As a married couple, she hoped that whether it was in joy or sorrow, adversity or prosperity, Zachary would communicate with her, respect her choices, and support each other. Instead, he kept everything from her, presumptuously arranging everything for her as if she
were a machine meant only to comply.
He didn't trust her at all, always acting solely based on his own thoughts and proceeding unilaterally.
Her words were meant to stab Zachary right in the heart.
She needed him to understand the gravity of the situation and change his domineering habits.
Moreover, she wanted him to feel the pain she endured back then.
Lenora had succeeded.
Zachary was heartbroken.
He stood there in a daze, staring at her intently, his face pale as a sheet. His lips trembled slightly, but no words came out.
It felt like his heart was being slashed apart, piece by piece, leaving only a bloody mess behind.
"Nora, do you really not want me anymore?" he asked hoarsely, his voice low and pleading, like sand scraping against his throat.
Lenora's fingers curled slightly at her side as she lowered her gaze. "It's not that I don't want you, Zachary. You're the one who pushed me away."
"I was wrong. I shouldn't have kept things from you, shouldn't have made decisions on my own. Nora, please give me another chance, will you?"
"I've already given you plenty of chances, Zachary, but you squandered every single one. What more do you want from me?"
Zachary froze. Closing his eyes briefly, he took a deep breath and spoke with a resolute tone, as if facing his doom. "This is the last time, I promise. If I ever do anything to disappoint you again, I'll never bother you again!"
"No, Zachary. I won't believe you anymore. What makes you think I'd wait for you? I'm sorry, but I already have a boyfriend, and I'm about to start a new life. So, please, go back and pretend I never existed." With that, Lenora turned and walked away.
"No, Nora! You can't just sentence me to death like this!" Zachary immediately stepped forward to grab her wrist, his gaze intense and slightly reddened. He pleaded with her. Before Lenora could respond, someone spoke in Uprian behind Zachary. "Let go of my girlfriend!"
Richard strode forward, yanking Zachary's hand away and positioning himself protectively in front of Lenora. He looked at Zachary warily. "What do you think you're doing?" Richard, standing at least six feet tall, had deep-set eyes that made his gaze sharp and imposing. Standing against Zachary, he showed no sign of backing down.
The sight of two handsome men facing off drew curious glances from passing staff members.
Zachary's eyes narrowed as he scrutinized Richard from head to toe, his sharp gaze like that of a hawk sizing up its prey.
Richard was appraising Zachary, too.
Zachary's striking features would stand out in Clusia, let alone in Fairlake. His well-defined brows and eyes were exceptional, rivaling Richard's, and his stature even slightly surpassed his opponent's. Dressed in a simple white shirt and tailored trousers, Zachary carried himself with effortless elegance. It was clear his outfit was expensive.
That morning, Richard had seen the car Zachary drove. The make and model alone would cost no less than three million.
In summary, Fay's ex-husband was handsome, wealthy, and seemed deeply in love with her.
So why had Fay divorced him?
Richard was extremely curious.
Zachary looked at Lenora and asked in Clusian, "Is he your new boyfriend?"
Lenora deliberately looped her arm through Richard's. "Yes."
Richard didn't understand Clusian, but he could guess what Zachary had said. Sternly, he declared, "You must be Fay's ex-husband. I'm her boyfriend, Richard. She has nothing to do with you anymore. Please don't bother her again." Meeting Richard's gaze, Zachary smirked and replied in fluent Uprian, "What happens between us is none of your business!"
Standing at the studio entrance was too conspicuous. Zachary didn't want to affect Lenora's work, so he shoved the lunchbox he was holding into her hands. "Go have lunch first. I'll pick you up after work."
His tone was gentle, as if Richard weren't even there.
Richard snatched the lunchbox and tossed it into a nearby trash can. He lifted his chin arrogantly. "Sorry, but I'm here to take Lenora to lunch. As for this kind of takeout, forget it!"
As soon as the words were spoken, the atmosphere suddenly became tense. A chilling frost seemed to have settled around them.
Lenora felt a chill run down her spine and sneaked a glance at Zachary.
His expression remained calm, but his dark eyes bore into Richard, exuding a quiet yet oppressive force.
Lenora was holding Richard's arm and could feel his muscles subtly tensing up, betraying his nervousness. The silence was suffocating.
For a moment, Lenora feared Zachary might punch Richard in the face.
However, Zachary did nothing of the sort.
Instead, he smiled at Lenora. "Go have lunch, Nora."noveldrama
Turning to Richard, he added, "Mr. Richard, is it? I'd like to have a word with you."
Richard raised an eyebrow. "What do you want to talk about?"
"Just a casual chat. If you're not willing, I won't force you," Zachary replied with a faint hint of provocation in his tone. "Fine, I'll humor you. Here?"
"There are too many people around. It's not ideal. Let's head to the emergency exit."
"Sure," Richard responded.
Feeling like she was being ignored, Lenora immediately objected, "No, you can't go."
She worried that prolonged contact between Richard and Zachary might lead to their cover being blown.
Zachary's lips curved into a slight smirk as he gazed at Richard.
Richard patted Lenora's hand, giving her a reassuring look. "It's okay, Fay. Pick a restaurant and text me. I'll join you after this." Looking at Zachary, he added, though speaking to Lenora, "As your boyfriend, it's my duty to deal with bothersome flies." He was good at hurling insults.
Lenora's lips twitched. She shot him a glance. "Okay, but don't take too long."
"Mm."
Turning to Zachary, Lenora warned, "I don't know what you plan to discuss with Richard, but if you dare harm him, I will never forgive you." Lowering his gaze, Zachary flashed a bitter smile. "You care about him so much. I wouldn't dare."
He wouldn't dare?
Lenora almost laughed aloud at that statement.
This was a man who'd schemed against Connor, even involving an innocent girl without hesitation. What wouldn't he dare do?
"I hope you mean what you say." Lenora then turned to Richard. "I'll go eat now. I'll text you the restaurant."
"Okay."
Lenora left.
Zachary looked at Richard, his eyes dark as ink. Gesturing toward the emergency exit, he said, "After you."
With a cold snort, Richard strode forward and opened the iron door to the emergency exit.
Zachary followed and closed the door behind them.
"What do you want to..." talk about?
Before he could finish, there was a loud bang. A sudden punch landed squarely on Richard's face.
Richard stood stunned for a few seconds, clutching his nose as he staggered backward.
At that moment, he thought to himself, No wonder Fay divorced her ex-husband. So, her ex had violent tendencies.
What do you think?
