My Four Miraculous Treasures

Chapter 70

The apartment Willow rented was located in Sunshine Park, Buscen City.

She cleared out the other bedroom, and placed Helen's luggage in there. It would be her room, now.

The children were overjoyed that their Grand-Aunt Helen had come along with them. They crowded around her eagerly.

Willow checked the time. It was already eleven in the morning. Too late to go out looking for work... but there'd be another chance, later in the afternoon.

She was on her way to the kitchen to make lunch when her handphone rang. It was the head of the janitorial department at the Hughes Corporation headquarters. Surprised, Willow took the phone call. "Hello, Mr Fawcett?"noveldrama

"Lara! Ah, no... Willow! You've skipped work for a couple of days, now! How many days' pay do you intend to miss out on?!" It was her supervisor at work, shouting every word like he always did.

Willow's eyes snapped wide open with shock. "You must be mistaken, sir! I've been let go from the job, haven't I?"

Hold on... the head janitor had just called her Willow! So he'd found out about her faking her own identity?

"And whoever said anything like that?" Sean Fawcett snapped in reply, "I don't remember handing you a dismissal letter, right?"

Willow thought about this. "Um... oh! That's right!"

"There you have it. I want to see you at work immediately. Bring your real ID and banking information, so we can sort out the paperwork. No more funny business, understand?" And then her supervisor hung up on her. Willow stood there with her mouth hanging open, blinking in confusion. So she hadn't actually been fired?

Mr Fawcett had even asked her for her real ID, so that they could make corrections to her paperwork with the company? That meant he knew that she'd used a false identity... yet she was still allowed to keep on working there? Was this Jasper's doing?

She was happy, of course... but she didn't understand what was going on.

Jasper hated her, didn't he? She'd been caught in a serious wrongdoing. Why wouldn't he fire her straight away?

What a peculiar fellow he was...

However, this meant that she was no longer in need of a new job. The Hughes Corporation paid far better than anyone else out there.

Now that she'd brought along her Aunt Helen as well, there was another mouth to feed. She couldn't be picky.

Anyway, this job was already the best she could hope for.

Willow felt her fighting spirit returning to her. She ate a quick lunch, then hurried off to work.

When she arrived and reported to the head janitor, all Fawcett told her to do was go to HR and sort out her true identity, then get to work cleaning the top floor.

With a heart full of good cheer, Willow cleaned the meeting room, then moved on to the secretary's office.

There was no one in, so she was able to finish the job quickly. Next, she moved on to the CEO's office, as usual.

It was perfectly normal for her to go into these places to do some cleaning.

The CEO wasn't usually here yet, at this time. In other words, Jasper wouldn't be around.

"Ohhh... a duck walked up to a lemonade stand, and he said to the man running the stand..." As she went about her work, Willow sang a children's song to herself.

She sang this song to Hailey all the time. It was her daughter's favorite. So far, it had been very useful for putting the little girl to sleep.

She was so focused on her work that she didn't notice a huge, dark shadow looming up behind her.

With each pass of her mop, she took another step backwards...

And then, she bumped against a pair of long, mighty legs. Her feet trod upon a pair of shiny black shoes.

"Eek!" she cried out, catching hold of her own quivering hips.

Looking backwards, she suddenly found herself confronted by a startlingly handsome face, wearing an expression as icy cold as the heart of winter. Her heart fluttered.
