Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 600

The man suddenly went quiet, his dark eyes deep and full of unspoken words. Selena felt her heart skip a beat as she looked up at him, swallowing nervously. "Is everything okay?" she whispered. "Yeah, it's nothing," he replied.

Everett gently caressed her cheek. The air in Newport was refreshing and humid, and since she had returned, her skin had become even softer, like it could just melt under his touch. She looked like a young woman in her early twenties, taking him back to when they first got married. Back then, she was so innocent and shy, even a simple kiss would make her tremble. He hadn't appreciated it then, but now, after all life's ups and downs, he realized how precious those moments were. If only he'd known to cherish her back then, he could have had the best of Selena and her unique, overwhelming love.

Now, he felt like he was treading on thin ice, carefully considering each step. He feared that the warmth they shared might disappear again.

"I've made contact," he said, breaking the silence. "We've discussed the compensation."

"But... she's not in a good mood right now, so she doesn't want to see anyone from our side. I'll have Alex handle things with her. We should stay out of it. Don't worry, I'll take care of everything."

Selena nodded understandingly. She had planned to visit with fruits and supplements the next day, but it seemed that wasn't an option anymore. She understood, though. Who doesn't care about their appearance? Even if she had saved someone with good intentions, facing disfigurement was a tough pill to swallow for anyone.

"I get it," she said softly.

She trusted Everett to provide the best compensation. Maybe one day, when the teacher felt ready, Selena could thank her personally. But for now, it was best to give her space.

Everett seemed eager to move on from the heavy topic. He gently patted her shoulder. "Let's get some sleep."

The three of them cuddled together, drifting off into their dreams. This moment would remain etched in Everett's memory as one of the most cherished of his life.

The next morning, the bedroom was bathed in warm sunlight. Everett usually got up early to work out, but today he stayed in bed, propping his head on one hand, watching his wife and son. Little Mateo was sleeping soundly, his tiny hands and feet clutching his mother, his head nestled against her, dreaming sweet dreams with a contented smile. noveldrama

Everett let out a soft hum, tugging at his pajamas to shift Mateo's head away.

Selena opened her eyes to see this childish act and wasn't sure whether to laugh or be annoyed.

Everett's gaze moved from his son to Selena. She looked pale but radiant in the morning light, with an adorably sleepy expression, her hair cascading around her neck, he

His dark eyes narrowed slightly, his Adam's apple moving as he swallowed.

Selena was focused on Mateo, only realizing after a moment that Everett had been watching her. As she tucked Mateo in, she asked lazily, "What are you staring at?"

"You," he replied, his voice a bit rougher than usual.

She rolled her eyes playfully. "You're such a bore."

She leaned down to kiss Mateo before getting up to wash.

But before she could leave, Everett caught her wrist, making her turn back with a puzzled look.

His fingers gently traced the inside of her wrist, a teasing smile playing on his lips. "And what about me?" he asked boldly.
