Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 589

"Mommy, mommy, are you in there?"

The sweet little voice was enough to melt anyone's heart. But right now, Selena was a bundle of nerves. The changing room door was unlocked and it was one of those sliding doors. Little Mateo might not be the strongest kid, but if he put his mind to it, he could probably push it open...

"Everett!"

Selena's voice was shaky, almost on the verge of tears. "Let me go!"

Everett just looked at her with an innocent expression. "Mrs. Bennett, why so tense?"

He whispered the last word with a teasing breath, causing Selena to blush with embarrassment and irritation, her toes curling. There was no winning against his shamelessness.

"So, who's getting your company tonight, your husband or your son?"

Everett tilted her chin up, enjoying the sight of her rosy cheeks, coaxing her into giving him the answer he wanted.

Selena stubbornly bit her lip, refusing to say a word. But instead of pushing her, she retaliated by biting down hard on his shoulder, her nails leaving their mark on his broad back.

Satisfied with her reaction, Everett gave a soft smile, kissing the woman who had turned to putty in his arms. He laid her gently on the small couch, wrapped a blanket around her, and smoothed the wrinkles in his shirt and pants.

He stepped outside, and the chatter of voices echoed through the door. Soon, it seemed Everett had taken little Mateo with him, their footsteps fading away.

Moments later, Everett returned.

Selena, now somewhat composed, sat up with the blanket around her, looking slightly regretful. But Everett wasn't going to let her off the hook.

"Mrs. Bennett, life's all about give and take. You can't just enjoy yourself and leave me hanging, can you?"

As he spoke, he pulled her into a warm embrace, making sure she felt his fiery desire.

Selena dodged his banter, steering the conversation elsewhere. "What did you tell Mateo? Did he agree to sleep quietly?"

In response, Everett playfully nipped at her neck, earning a wince from Selena.

"Mrs. Bennett, right now your focus should be on me, not our son."

His playful bite was less than gentle, making Selena grimace.

"Everett, are you part dog?"

He chuckled, "Takes one to know one."

With that, Everett decided to drop the playful argument.

...

Selena's dark hair tumbled down, highlighting her pale skin adorned with the red marks Everett had left. Under the light, there was a kind of wild beauty to it all. It was urgent, intoxicating.

He kissed away the tears at the corners of her eyes, whispering

profound tenderness.

In a haze, Selena couldn't tell if the love he expressed in moments like these was genuine or just for show.

The night seemed to stretch on forever.

The heat in the room lingered long into the night.

The following morning, it was still Everett who drove little Mateo to school.

The black Rolls-Royce sped down the street.

Mateo stared out the window for a bit, then turned to the man beside him, who wore a mysterious smile.

"Dad, why does mommy keep sleeping in? She hasn't taken me to school in ages. She used to always do it."
