Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 582

She watched as Everett's handsome face turned more and more serious, his aura sharp and dangerous, yet she showed no sign of backing down. "Everett, you're the one making things difficult. Some things don't need to be said; we both know them well."noveldrama

He used little Mateo as a bargaining chip to pull her back to his side. Her decision to stay for Mateo was one made out of necessity, yet he kept pushing her further. He always did this; she had to live by his rules. In the past, he didn't want her love, so she couldn't give it to him. Now he wanted her heart, and she was supposed to just hand it over. But life isn't that simple. Even if he were the dealer, he couldn't win every game. Selena gently traced her fingers over his brows and eyes, but her words cut like ice. "Everett, you once said love didn't matter, that high-society marriages were only about benefits. Talking about love was just foolish." "I didn't agree with you back then, but now I do. Shouldn't that make you happy?"

The words that once pierced Selena's heart had come back like a boomerang, hitting Everett hard. It hurt him so much he could barely breathe. She knew exactly how to wound a heart. "Everett, three years ago you wanted to stop the nonsense and live a good life with me. But now, you're the one who doesn't want that!"

Selena's eyes were full of mockery. "I'd like to throw those words back at you. Can you stop being difficult?"

Everett clenched his hands tight, the veins in his arms standing out. He never realized words could be so powerful. With just a few sentences, his heart felt ripped apart and bleeding.

He didn't want to hear her speak anymore, or maybe he was just scared of what she might say. He wanted to prove himself in his own way, to show that he still had a hold on her, to show that she still felt something for him.

Everett leaned down to capture her lips, impatiently pulling her close, tearing away her dress. He wouldn't let her escape or refuse him, using every means to please her, marking her with his presence. Only then could he calm his restlessness and anxiety.

Selena kept her eyes closed, silently enduring it all, biting her lip without making a sound, no matter how frantically he sought her. In this silent battle, Everett eventually lost.

But he wasn't ready to let go.

Holding her from behind, even after moving away, his dark eyes lingered on her slender back, tracing her

was still warm, cheeks flushed, breathing quick, still caught in the echoes of their passion.

Everett kissed her throat, no longer wild but gentle, as if he was both unwilling to let go and pleading. "Selena, you clearly still have feelings for me. I can make you happy, can't I?"

Even though he hadn't been with anyone else, he knew Selena well enough to sense her happiness from her reactions.

In the past, Selena might have felt embarrassed. But as she grew older, she was no longer the naive young girl she once was. Her mindset had matured, and now, being a mother, she could face her needs openly. Selena didn't deny it; her eyes closed, her voice husky with the afterglow of their intimacy. "Everett, it's just a normal reaction, if it were someone else..."

She couldn't finish because Everett's hand covered her mouth. He didn't want her to speak anymore; he didn't want to hear it! Listening would only frustrate him more.

Selena couldn't be bothered to argue with him. Dealing with this man was exhausting, and she was already drifting to sleep. Soon, she was out like a light, her breathing soft and steady. The one left awake was Everett.
