Luna Aurora 31
The tension in Cassian's pack had reached a breaking point. Patrols were on constant alert, and every howl from the forest sent shivers through the wolves guarding the borders. Aurora felt the strain deeply, each passing hour feeding her unease. She busied herself in the kitchens, helping prepare meals for the wolves coming off their shifts. The rhythmic tasks kept her hands moving, but her mind raced. She couldn't stop imagining Fenrir's arrival-what he might say, what he might do. Cassian entered the kitchen just as she was finishing a batch of bread, his presence commanding the room's attention. Aurora straightened, wiping her hands on her apron.
"Aurora," he said, his tone soft but purposeful. "Can we talk?"
She nodded, following him outside. The air was cool, and the moon cast a pale glow over the pack grounds. Cassian led her to a quiet spot near the edge of the central square, away from prying eyes and ears.
"I need to ask you something," he said, turning to face her.
Aurora's stomach twisted. "What is it?"
He hesitated for a moment, his dark eyes searching hers. "Are you carrying Fenrir's child?"
The question hit her like a blow, and she took a step back, her heart racing. "Why... why would you think that?"
Cassian's gaze didn't waver. "The signs are there, Aurora. You've been more withdrawn lately, and the way you protect yourself" His eyes flicked briefly to her abdomen. "You don't have to hide it anymore. Not from me." Tears welled in her eyes, and she looked away, her hands trembling. "I was afraid," she whispered. "Afraid of what you'd think. Afraid you'd send me away."
Cassian's expression softened, and he stepped closer, his voice low and steady. "I would never send you away. You've been through enough already. If Fenrir comes for you, he'll find this entire pack standing in his way." Aurora's tears spilled over, and she nodded, the weight of her secret finally lifting.
Meanwhile, in the dense forest bordering the northern edge of Cassian's territory, Fenrir stood with his trackers, his sharp eyes scanning the trees. The distant lights of Cassian's pack flickered through the foliage, taunting him. "She's there," he growled, his voice low but filled with certainty.
Nathan shifted uneasily at his side. "The pack is on high alert, Alpha. If we cross now, we risk open conflict."
"I don't care," Fenrir snapped. "Aurora belongs to me. If Cassian thinks he can keep her, he's mistaken."
Nathan hesitated, his expression tense. "With all due respect, Alpha, forcing her back might only push her further away. She left for a reason."noveldrama
Fenrir's glare silenced him. "Enough. Prepare the others. We move at dawn."
